#sometimes i think about how much cas gave up to help dean and sam #to keep them safe #i mean here you have this billion-year old creature #who turned his back on his home #his family #everything he had ever known #because he had faith in two boys #because he believed that God wouldn’t want his most precious creation to be destroyed #because he saw his brothers and sisters fighting each other and dying and thought that there must be something better than this #he rebelled #and lost his powers day by day #and had to face the reality that he would become human #… #i just #can you even imagine that? #knowing that what you had once been would fade to nothing? #that your grace would fade away #that your wings would turn to dust #that everything you had once used to define yourself #…would be gone? #and yet cas still persists #he fights #he sacrifices himself again over and over #even when he had lost faith in God #in the boys #and in himself #he never gave up #and when he returned to heaven at the end of season 5 to find heaven once again in disarray #he took up his sword once again #to protect those he loved #only to have them spit back in his face #i’ll just never understand why the show went this route #yes he made mistakes #and big ones at that # but he didn’t deserve this # he didn’t # the dean i know would have stood by his family #the sam i know would have recognized that cas was going through the same struggle he had #the bobby i know would have called him an idjit and set about devising a new plan to take down raphael #not treat him like an enemy before they knew what was going on #not trap him in a ring of fire yelling at him without letting him explain #not set about on stopping him but instead on stopping CROWLEY who came up with the whole plan in the first place #but no #instead the writers chose to assassinate every single character #well congratulations show #in your effort to turn cas into a villain #you basically secured his place as one of the greatest martyrs
